Proposals detailing the construction of more than 180 houses are going towards Birmingham City Council's planning committee next week.

Five separate plans for Birmingham suburbs were submitted as part of the fourth phase of the council's Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT) Programme.

The scheme aims to ensure that a supply of homes is maintained during the economic downturn in partnership with private developers and with gap funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The fourth phase comprises a total of 205 dwellings across six sites.

Next week, councillors will vote on schemes in Lozells (30 properties); Ward End (18); Garretts Green (31); Owens Croft, Kings Norton (49) and Grange Farm Drive, Kings Norton (55).

The sixth site comprises 22 dwellings in Sutton Coldfield.

The plans comprise a mix of affordable, rented and properties for sale.

All five schemes, which have been proposed by Birmingham City Council's housing and constituencies' directorate, are recommended for approval subject to varying conditions.

The council's planning committee will vote on the schemes next Thursday (8 December).
