Jobs boost as KFC sets up in Ilkeston
Almost 50 jobs have been generated with the opening of a KFC drive-thru restaurant in Ilkeston.
Developer BSP Holdings, based in Nottingham, recently purchased the 1.2-acre site on Rutland Street.
The company described the fast food venue as "the catalyst for change" at the site, adding that it should become a major gateway into the town.
The opening created nearly 50 part-time and full-time jobs.
Working with Nottingham property firm heb, BSP secured the deal with KFC. The company said it now has further plans for development.
David Singh of BSP said: "We are looking forward to working closely with Erewash Borough Council to deliver a comprehensive scheme that will improve the vitality of Ilkeston as a whole."
KFC has taken about 0.4 acres of space for the drive-thru. Plans are currently being drawn up with regards to the remaining 0.8 acres, added Singh, with a further announcement regarding the development expected in the New Year.
