More overseas success for Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce has been awarded new Petrobras contracts worth $650m (£418.3m) in Brazil. The company has also unveiled plans to create a marine service centre in Hong Kong.
Under the new contracts, Rollys-Royce will supply 32 gas turbine power generation packages for eight separate floating vessels for the deep-water oil and gas company.
Francisco Itzaina, Rolls-Royce's regional director - South America, said: "Rolls-Royce is committed to continuing to expand its technology presence and manufacturing capabilities in Brazil, and to stimulate the local economy through job creation, skills development and training.
"To fulfil these contracts we will further develop our local supply chain to provide critical components required for our gas turbine power generation equipment."
The company also unveiled plans for its new marine services centre on Hong Kong's Tsing Yi Island, which is expected to open in 2012.
The centre will offer support and engineering services to its customers in Hong Kong.
