University launches Asia business hub
The University of Nottingham has established an Asia Business Centre. It will support knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs), trade and investment and research across the continent.
The Asia Business Centre will be based at Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus and aims to link with the university’s Malaysia, China and UK campuses.
An Asia advisory board is now rthe the process of being set up to increase business activity and engagement with business and partner organisations in Asia. Meeting on a twice-yearly basis, the board will develop corporate, student employment and mobility links throughout the region.
The university said it also had plans to create a new Nottingham Asia Network for academic staff to link its campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia.
"The new Asia Business Centre forms part of a three-pronged way of coordinating the university’s engagement with Asia," said Professor Chris Rudd, pro-vice-chancellor for business engagement and knowledge transfer at The University of Nottingham.
"We must build volume, continue to differentiate the institution as other western players enter the Asian market with campus offers, and demonstrate value to UK stakeholders through benefits to local and national economies, student experience and local communities."
