Builders' merchant Travis Perkins has made three appointments to its senior management team.

The appointments were made after the company introduced a new divisional structure, said the Northampton-based company.

The new structure, reporting through group chief operating officer John Carter, will include general merchanting, made up by the four regional Travis Perkins businesses. Specialist merchanting will comprise Keyline, CCF, Benchmarx and associate merchant Rinus Roofing.

The plumbing and heating division will include the ex-BSS Group businesses of BSS Industrial, PTS, Direct Heating Spares, together with City Plumbing Supplies and City Heating Spares. The consumer business will be made up of Wickes, Tile Giant and associate multi-channel business, ToolStation.

Norman Bell is being promoted to a new role of group development director, following his running of the BSS integration project alongside John Carter. Paul Tallentire is appointed as divisional chairman of the plumbing and heating division.

Ian Church, who has led the Travis Perkins business in the Midlands for the last seven years, becomes managing director at PTS.

Jeremy Bird is promoted to the new role of divisional chairman for the consumer division. Simon King, who was most recently chief operations officer at Asda, joins the group as managing director of Wickes.

Travis Perkins said Joe Mescall and Arthur Davidson would continue to lead the remaining two operating divisions as divisional chairmen of general merchanting and specialist merchanting respectively.

Kieran Griffin, a former Keyline and Travis Perkins manager and regional director, has been promoted to managing director of Travis Perkins Midlands.

Howard Luft, until recently managing director Buck & Hickman and responsible for the sale of this business, re-joins the group to become managing director at CCF.
