The Newark-based subsidiary of car dealership Lookers has bought the business and assets of Golf and Turf Machinery.

Platts Harris specialises in the sale, service and parts supply of agricultural and construction machinery. It is a subsidiary business of £2bn-turnover Manchester-based Lookers.

The company has operations in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, part of South Yorkshire and West Lincolnshire. The management team is made up of Simon Wilson, Ken Holmes and Kevin Petley.

Golf & Turf Machinery, based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, will continue to provide sales, spare parts and hire of groundcare machinery to customers across Yorkshire.

Lookers said the deal expands its geographical footprint in the market, and added that the running of Golf and Turf Machinery would remain unchanged.

Peter Jones, chief executive of Lookers, said: "Golf & Turf Machinery was a well managed business and its acquisition extends our current Lincolnshire and Derbyshire groundcare activities. We are pleased to welcome Glen Sawyer and his team to the group."

Platts Harris was advised by Brabners Chaffe Street on the deal.
