£7.5m restaurant quarter launched at Bullring
More than 100 jobs have been created with a £7.5m extension to Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre.
Handmade Burger Company, Thai restaurant ChaoBaby and Browns Bar and Brasserie have all set up shop after the centre expanded with an additional 20,000 sq ft.
The £7.5m development is called Spiceal Street, set around St Martin's Square and the Selfridges building.
As part of the development existing restaurants Nando's and Pizza Hut have extended their trading space by 54 per cent and 20 per cent respectively.
The extension, funded by operator Hammerson, has also created 105 new permanent jobs.
Lawrence Hutchings, Hammerson's managing director for UK retail, said: "Consumers' enthusiasm for dining out has remained strong despite the economic climate and we had an exceptional response from restaurant brands for the space.
"The three brands opening today undoubtedly add an extra dimension to both Bullring and Birmingham."
