Nestlé to pour £110m into Tutbury site
Nestlé is set to invest £110m in its Tutbury coffee plant. The move will create 300 jobs over the next two years, said the confectionery giant.
The plant, near Burton-upon-Trent, will house 12 new production lines for Nestlé's Nescafe Dolce Gusto range, trebling output at the factory.
The number of employees at the plant is set to rise to 800 by 2013, with some of the new recruits joining Nestle's training academy.
Paul Grimwood, chairman and chief executive officer of Nestlé UK and Ireland told reporters that the company would provide on the job training for its new employees.
"Through the Nestlé Academy we will double our number of apprentices, graduates and internships, supporting the economy through the training of skilled workers," he said.
"We will also provide on the job training which will open academic study to those who otherwise might not feel this is a route open to them."
The coffee pods created on site will be available for sale in the Uk and 38 other countries.
