A multimillion-dollar US internet business has launched its UK centre of operations in Lincoln. WebHostingBuzz's UK managing director told Insider the city's entrepreneurial and creative attitude made it "the perfect place" to base its expansion plans.

The company provides internet hosting services for more than 500,000 websites across the world and already has offices in the US, The Netherlands and the Ukraine.

It currently employs 30 staff at its offices in Boston, United States and the Ukraine and has datacentre farms in New York City, Atlanta, Phoenix and Amsterdam. Current turnover exceeds $3m (£1.9m).

The company has now established its UK operation in Landmark House on Riseholme Road, Lincoln, and said it would begin recruiting for sales staff in the near future.

WebHostingBuzz was founded in 2002 and has clients including Xscape indoor ski-slopes, US Senator Jerry Moran and news website Balkans.com.

It serves online operations in more than 180 countries.

The company recently secured a deal to host the website SAF25.com – a website launched by the Manchester United Supporters Trust to celebrate Sir Alex Ferguson’s 25th anniversary as manager.

UK Managing director Matt Russell said the company was now hoping to take on clients across the East Midlands, a region which he said was "poorly served" by the existing market.

"We are delighted to be launching our UK operation in Lincoln. It is a fantastic city and a great place to do business. The county is full of entrepreneurs and creative, passionate and committed business people and that makes it the perfect place for our company to base its expansion plans," he said.

"Our web hosting products and customer service mean that we’re perfectly positioned to help Lincolnshire businesses build and grow their website without worrying about unfamiliar technology, downtime or hidden costs."
