Jobs lost as Capps & Capps collapses

More than 30 jobs have been axed after liquidators were appointed to Herefordshire-based building company Capps & Capps.

Administrators said following several major contract delays, the company fell into administration owing £500,000. Thirty full-time jobs were lost as well as sub-contractors and suppliers' work. It is unclear whether the business will be sold.

Paul Walker and John Sallabank from insolvency specialist Harrisons were appointed joint liquidators to Capps & Capps, based in Sarnesfield, Herefordshire, on 15 November.

The company specialised in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings and had carried out extensive renovations to Hereford Cathedral.

Walker said: "It is sad to see a local company that has traded profitably for more than 30 years decline into a position of insolvency with a deficit of some £500,000. A further sad fact is that an incredible collection of combined skill sets has now probably been lost forever."
