Something for the weekend

Street team

Just a week after Westfield upped sticks and legged it out of Nottingham by selling its stake in the Broadmarsh shopping centre, an intrepid team of 'street ambassadors' has been recruited by Nottingham's Retail and Leisure Business Improvement Districts (BID) to welcome visitors to Nottingham city centre and be a street based source of advice and assistance to people.

Not ones to be deterred by the conufusion surrounding the Broadmarsh, the street ambassadors will be on duty throughout the day and into the evening every day around the city centre.

They will be wearing distinctive turquoise ‘We Are Nottingham’ branded uniforms and the aim is that they will become a "constant and recognisable presence around the city centre and provide a warm and friendly welcome to people coming into the city". Unlike Westfield, you might argue – we couldn't possibly comment.

Meeting places

Blueprint has finally moved out of the Marie Celeste (otherwise known as Emda's offices) into the hip and happening Lace Market area of Nottingham. We joked with John Long and Nick Ebbs about seeing them in the Kean's Head every lunchtime before the move, but who should we see coming stepping sheepishly out of Blueprint's new abode but John, on his way to a meeting in said pub. Almost effortless integration to the new community, that is.

Christmas on a shoestring

Office festivities don't need to break the bank, that's according to research by communications company Pitney Bowes. In a terribly helpful email missive to Insider, the firm's Phil Hutchison set out his top tips for motivating staff over Christmas. In at number five with a bullet was: "Consider giving each team member a contribution towards their own Christmas celebration for them to use as they wish. It doesn't have to be a lot, £10 can go far". A Big Mac meal and the bus home it is, then.
