Lands' End eyes European growth after profit boost
Lands' End Europe, the Leicestershire-based retailer, has increased operating profit by £2.27m in the last year.
The company, which is owned by Delaware, US-based Lands' End International, manufactures casual clothing primarily for sale in the UK and Germany.
Turnover for the year to 28 January 2011 rose from £122.9m to £131.3m, a rise of 6.8 per cent.
Operating profit grew from £20m in 2009 to £22.3m.
The value of the company's assets also increased over the year to £45.2m, up from £41m in the previous year.
After the results were published, the company changed its name from Lands' End UK to Lands' End Europe, in a move that directors said should build its online presence across the continent.
During the year, £37.9m of turnover was derived from UK sales, while £93.3m came from the rest of Europe. The company recently relaunched its website for customers in Germany, in a bid to drive further sales.
