East End Foods is launching its new £10.5m Aston Cross depot this morning (14 November 2011).

The building, which is located on the former HP factory, is set to create 100 jobs.

After a six-month build programme, the depot will become one of the largest trade-only cash and carrys in the country, spanning 120,000 sq ft.

Prior to East End Foods' purchase, the HP site had lain vacant since 2007.

Jason Wouhra, company secretary and director, said: "Today is a proud moment for East End Foods we have been in business for over 40 years and this new site is one of our greatest achievements.

"We are delighted to be in a position to give back to this great city which has aided our development as a business so much, providing it with much needed jobs at a time of austerity."

As reported by Insider on Friday (11 November), East End Foods dip in profit for the year ending 30 April 2011, falling from £4.5m in 2010 to £3.7m.

However, the company reported an increased turnover from £121.8m last year up to £125.9m in 2011.
