Dolls House Emporium taps into international trade
A Derbyshire doll house manufacturer has launched its first overseas operations in the US and Canada.
The Dolls House Emporium, based in Ripley, said it is now preparing to establish a venture in Australia.
It has founded websites for customers in the US and Canada to purchase its dolls house miniature pieces.
Managing director Jackie Lee said: "We may be two cultures separated by the same language but one of the things we have in common is our love for popular crafts such as making and collecting dolls' houses and miniatures.
"It was a natural progression as our customer base continues to expand overseas and we wanted to make it as straightforward as possible for people to pursue their hobby."
Lee said the company had been planning the website launches – which go live this week – since April. Once the websites have been established, she added, the company would start working towards a launch in Australia.
