Midlands accountancy firm Smith Cooper has promoted two of its staff to partner roles.

James Bagley and David Nelson will take on the positions immediately having been with the firm seven and two years respectively.

Bagley joined the firm in 2004 having graduated from Newcastle University. He now specialises in advising privately owned companies to develop and implement their corporate strategy; acquisitions, mergers, integration, re-structuring, re-financing and sale to realise equity value.

David joined Smith Cooper in 2009 with a background in insolvency and turnaround and has grown the advisory team's client portfolio.

Managing partner of Smith Cooper, Andrew Delve, said: "Smith Cooper is moving forward strongly against a difficult economic backdrop. We are supporting our clients by building our senior team with talented individuals.

"What sets James and David apart from our competitors is their willingness to get to know a client's business so that they can appreciate their objectives and play a highly proactive role in working to achieve them."

Smith Cooper has offices in Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Alfreton, Ashbourne, Burton, Buxton, Birmingham and Ilkeston.
