John Pye disposes of Julious arm

Nottingham-based auctioneer John Pye & Sons has sold its bailiff and enforcement division for an undisclosed six-figure sum.

The company, based the former Shipstone's Brewery, sold its Julious arm to ARP Enforcement Services.

Founded in 1978 by Margaret Ann Julious, the bailiff division was the focus of a management buyout and acquired by John Pye & Sons in 2009. It served instructions for UK councils, landlords and private clients.

The company has now been bought by regional bailiff Tony Pycroft, who has spent the last few years servicing many of the company's instructions throughout the Midlands and the East of England.

Once the deal has completed, Julious is to relocate to the Shipstones Business Park in Nottingham.

Adam Pye, managing director of the vendor, said: "Julious has always been the subject of many expressions of interest and offers over many, many years of trading and we have always turned down these offers, often in the face of strong commercial return, for two main reasons.

"Firstly, we wanted to see the Julious brand passed over to a third party who would uphold its core brand and trading values and ethics. Secondly, we also wanted to see a smooth transition to uphold the interests of both clients and staff whom we have built strong working relationships with over the years."
