Practice Plan all smiles with double deal

Share | |

Shropshire-based Practice Plan Holdings has acquired two businesses in Scotland. The deal was agreed after Practice Plan completed a refinancing with HSBC.

The company, which provides practice-branded dental membership plans, bought Edinburgh-based Isoplan and Ayrshire's Medenta for an undisclosed sum.

Both acquisitions were part-funded by the deal with HSBC in the North West.

The company, based in Oswestry, said the purchases would increase geographical reach and expand its client base product offering.

Isoplan is a dental plan provider while Medenta supplies dental finance to customers across the UK.

Nick Dilworth, managing director at Practice Plan Holdings, said: "The substantial market growth predicted for restorative and cosmetic dentistry over the next five to ten years means that dental patient finance has become increasingly relevant for many practices – so the acquisition of Medenta will really strengthen our position.

"Equally, the presence of Isoplan across the UK – and particularly Scotland – will enhance our customer base and ability to offer a wider range of services."

The combined business comprises 1,300 dental practices, 2,200 dentists and about 500,000 patients across the UK.
