CPMG steps aboard HMS Belfast project

Nottingham architects' practice CPMG has designed a quayside pavilion for museum ship HMS Belfast in London.

The riverside pavilion, which has been granted planning permission, includes a ground floor café, retail space and rooftop bar.

It will be constructed within the existing structure and comes as HMS Belfast celebrates its 40th anniversary.

CPMG is working on the project alongside project manager Focus.

"It's great news that planning permission has been gained for the new pavilion which will significantly enhance the facilities at HMS Belfast for the benefit of visitors to this important tourist attraction," said Anil Parmar, associate director at CPMG.

"We now look forward to work starting on site and then seeing the finished result once the pavilion has been completed."

Work is due to begin later this year and it is expected to be completed by summer 2012.
