AGA Rangemaster Group has been named Manufacturing Company of the Year at Insider's inaugural Made in the Midlands Awards. AGA was one of the winners on a night that celebrated the very best and most innovative manufacturers from across a region that has been at the forefront of the UK's manufacturing success since the Industrial Revolution. Michael Portillo compered the awards, which also featured a keynote address from Mike Wright, the executive director of Jaguar Land Rover. The event, which was held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, also raised money for the West Midlands Industry Foundation.

Green Manufacturer Award
Winner: The Alumet Group
Alumet is not just doing what it thinks are the right things, said our judges, but using green technologies to grow its business. This award is for the company that has demonstrated the greatest commitment, through its products and processes, to forging a low carbon manufacturing future for the Midlands.

Manufacturing Innovation Award
Winner: Wade Ceramics
Wade Ceramics operate in a very competitive sector, but its commitment to innovation has meant that it has incorporated export growth into its business plan, said our judges. This award is for the company that has generated a substantial commercial benefit from an innovative product or process designed and manufactured in the Midlands region.

Export Award

SI Group is a dominant exporter, said our judges. It is brave enough to export to more than one country and is actively building its brand overseas. Technology Transfer Award

Outspoken, and often controversial, he pulls no punches when it comes to addressing the challenges facing the manufacturing industry
