Johnson Cleaners launches inaugural drive-thru
Dry cleaning company Johnson Cleaners has invested a six-figure sum in its first drive-thru service in Burton-on-Trent.
The company, which operates 461 stores across the country, has now invested £130,000 to develop the new concept store.
The drive-thru dry cleaners – which Johnson said has never been tried in the UK –allows customers to drop off and collect dry cleaning and laundry through the car window.
The new store, which has created two jobs, will be open 24-hours a day via a drop box facility.
Paul Ogle, managing director of Johnson Cleaners, said: "The concept has been developed as a result of wider market research over in the US, where drive-thru dry cleaners are commonplace and operate as part of a very successful business model.
"We know that a lot of people are time poor, especially those with families and who work shifts, and we want to make dry cleaning, laundry, and ironing as convenient as possible for them. As an investment it absolutely makes sense for us and we’re confident that customers will reap the benefits."
