West Mids in £100m RGF windfall
Almost 34,000 jobs are set to be created in the West Midlands after 20 projects secured Regional Growth Fund (RGF) investment.
The second round of government funding has granted a cash boost worth a total £100m to companies including JCB, Alamo Manufacturing Services and Steelite International.
Other successful bids came from LNX Distribution; Zytek Automotive; Aeromet International; Alamo Manufacturing Services (UK); Herefordshire Council; Moorland & City Railways.
Elonex, Advanced Engineering (AE) Supply Chain Investment, Aeromet and Ceram Research are also to receive funding.
Up to 3,900 direct jobs and 29,800 indirect jobs are set to be created within the region after the funding has been secured.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said: "I am delighted to be able to announce this boost to business, which will jump start growth and create jobs that last in the places that really need it.
"This targeted support for businesses across the country allows them to expand and create jobs.
"It unlocks private sector investment – with at least £5 put in for every £1 of public money."
