The operator of Nottingham's Victoria Shopping Centre said that it "remains confident" of receiving a decision on its planned extension to the site before Christmas.

Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) said it expected a response to its bid to extend the northern side of the Victoria Centre's in the next two months.

The comments came as CSC revealed its results from the three months to 31 October this morning.

It said July to October footfall had been in line with 2010 and was up 2 per cent for the year to date.

The business said it had also secured 56 new long-term leases across its centres, which also includes the Metrocentre in Gateshead and Manchester's Trafford Centre, and said annual passing rent had also increased in its third quarter by £3m.

Fischel said: "As evidenced by a 97 per cent occupancy level, CSC has delivered a robust operational performance in the period in the face of a challenging economic and retail background. CSC remains well positioned through its focus on leading and high quality regional shopping centres in the UK."
