Shortt unveils LEP challenges
Coventry and Warwickshire's Local Enterprise Partnership has set out five growth targets to be achieved early in 2012.
Chairman Denys Shortt said he wanted to establish a business mentor network to help small businesses and sign up "100 mentors in 100 days".
He also announced plans to create a social network group for businesses and gain 1,000 contributors in the same timeframe.
Shortt also said he wanted to "fill the hard to fill jobs" for public sector leavers and share case studies of small, medium and large business of good and bad access to finance.
Finally, he is targeting a public prospectus of development and infrastructure projects for Coventry and Warwickshire, hoping to establish "1,000 opportunities in 100 days".
Shortt said: "Our government has recognised that businesses are the backbone of this country and it is businesses that will create wealth and jobs.
"I believe if you want decent public services and a strong public sector you have to have strong and vibrant businesses.
"LEPs are a collaboration between the private sector and the public sector – focussed on creating growth, jobs and removing barriers to growth."
