Distance learning to bring in £2.5m
The University of Derby's online arm is aiming to generate an income of more than £2.5m this year.
The university's distance learning division has set a target of recruiting 2,000 online students this year which would create an income of more than £2.5m.
Online distance learning has been available at the University of Derby for more than a decade but over the last three years has "grown significantly", said Julie Stone, head of the online divison.
She said: "We focus on our students – we know that they are adults with busy working and home lives, who want to learn something that will enhance their careers, but do so at a pace that suit them."
The university has added five more programmes to its online provision this September, taking the total number of programmes it delivers online up to 28. Its portfolio includes courses in business, finance, health, education, law and vocational professions.
