Renewables specialist Alumet has revealed plans to boost its turnover to £100m in the next five years. Director Dean Walton spoke to Insider ahead of the Made in the Midlands awards, at which the company is shortlisted for three prizes.

The Southam-based company, which was founded by chief executive Gary Summers in 1993, designs and manufactures its EOS Energy photovoltaic solar panels and other renewable energy services.

Marketing director Walton told Insider that the company had "massive plans" to grow within the eco sector.

"We aim to make EOS Energy the leading Solar PV providers within five years, and to turn over £100m," he said.

"We are currently working on numerous 'full facade' projects throughout the UK and installing solar panels on hundreds of domestic, commercial, school and agricultural buildings."

Alumet recently completed a solar PV array at Hendra Holiday Park in Cornwall, installing 5,000 panels in five weeks, which is thought to be a UK record.

The company currently employs 125 staff and has revenues of about £20m. It has been shortlisted for three awards at Insider's inaugural Made in the Midlands event; manufacturing innovation; green manufacturer and company of the year.

Walton said the company was "extremely proud" to have been recognised in several categories.

"We have made massive efforts over the last year to make Alumet more sustainable, we like to think that we have set an example for the whole local community," he said. "We are managing to maintain our place as one of the country's leading specialist contractors by training our staff, innovating and diversifying."

It's your last chance to book tickets for Insider's Made in the Midlands event, which takes place on Tuesday 1 November.

The evening will offer manufacturers the opportunity to meet together and as always with events such as this, to make new contacts and to gain valuable insight from talking to others in the same industry.
