Nottingham-based Property Investment Portfolio (PIP) is set to create 50 jobs after securing work on a £20m project to refurbish a former Ministry of Defence (MoD) site.

The construction company is to revamp the site in Cornwall which has now been earmarked for residential development.

Once completed, PIP will have refurbished the site into 120 three-bedroom properties.

Arv Soar, owner and director of PIP, said he had "invested heavily" in the business to ensure its construction arm could fulfil the project.

In addition to spending about £100,000 on new equipment, he said the company expects to create 50 jobs in the coming months.

The new positions will be recruited for across PIP's three sites in Nottingham, Hull and St Eval.

"There is a huge demand for luxury housing in Cornwall and St Eval is an extremely desirable location, being situated so close to Padstow and the North Cornish coastline," said Soar.

"Our core business is the provision of property investment opportunities for investors and lettings, but we have always operated a construction division, which has developed individual properties and streets and constructed the various developments that we ourselves have launched."
