Libya crisis fails to hinder DCS sales
Stratford-upon-Avon-based DCS has told Insider that the business has managed to maintain its levels of exporting despite its two biggest overseas markets being at war.
Health and beauty product distributor DCS has been shortlisted for Insider's Made in the Midlands Export award, the winner of which will be unveiled next week (1 November).
Managing director Denys Shortt said he was "delighted" with the nod, and added that the company's export levels had remained constant despite key markets Egypt and Libya experiencing serious civil unrest. However, he admitted the past few months had been "tough".
"We are working so hard with growing our manufacturing business and it is really tough," he said. "We need UK supermarkets' own brands to support us and support Made in Britain."
Shortt added that "if done well", exports were a great addition to any business. DCS currently has sales of £130m – of this £20m is gleaned from exports.
He added that the company had plans for growth and expansion over the coming years, having recently invested £500,000 in the future expansion of the business.

It's your last chance to book tickets for Insider's inaugural Made in the Midlands event, which takes place on Tuesday 1 November.
The evening will offer manufacturers the opportunity to meet together and as always with events such as this, to make new contacts and to gain valuable insight from talking to others in the same industry.
