Waitrose snaps up Remarkable 'eco stationery' line

Share | |

A Worcester entrepreneur has agreed a contract with supermarket chain Waitrose to stock his line of recycled stationery products.

Inventor Ed Douglas Miller established his company Remarkable to recycle UK waste into everyday products.

The product line for Waitrose includes pencils made from recycled CD cases, pencil cases made from recycled tyres, and geometry sets made from biodegradable corn starch.

Packaging on the products is also environmentally friendly, having been created from recycled drinks bottles and recycled card.

Miller said: "One of the greatest goals of Remarkable is to keep raising environmental awareness, continuing to innovate and create stylish products while inspiring others to start making small everyday changes. A hallmark of Remarkable’s philosophy is that being environmentally friendly can be good fun too."

Remarkable is located in a 30,000 sq ft red brick factory in Worcester, powered by renewable energy. It employs 30 members of staff and recycles more than 10 tonnes of UK materials every week.
