North Midland Construction (NMC) has completed work on a £3.4m community fire station in Buxton.

The Nottinghamshire-based company spent 11 months working on the project which involved creating a two-storey emergency rescue centre.

This comprised a community fire station with training facilities offices and communal areas.

It is one of four 'resilience centres' in operation during emergencies to ensure that Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service can maintain its service across the county.

The new station can house eight fire appliances and a large store of equipment.

Mike Catlin, managing director of North Midland Building, said: "We're delighted to have been able to deliver this high quality and attractive building in a cost effective and timely manner. It is a great addition to our growing portfolio of fire and rescue facilities. The community now has a state of the art rescue facility that they can be very proud of."

The company has previously worked with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) at Staveley fire station.
