Logistics hub to create 120 Cannock jobs
Courier service APC Overnight is to create 120 jobs in Cannock after deciding to locate its new logistics centre in the town.
The creation of a 121,000 sq ft hub at Kingswood Lakeside business park is also set to safeguard 300 additional jobs.
The site, developed by Staffordshire County Council in 2005, was transformed from a former open cast mine into an industrial business site.
Once planning permission has been secured, APC Overnight said it expects to be operation by Christmas 2012.
The company is moving from its existing base in Essington, South Staffordshire, after experiencing growing demands.
Ivor Skinner, APC Overnight managing director, said: "The new hub is essential to APC's national operations and future development; it is a major investment made possible through the growth we are enjoying across the APC network.
"We are also equipping the new hub with advanced systems that will boost productivity and efficiency."
