Sports Direct hits £329m sales
Total sales have grown by 11.5 per cent at Sports Direct over the past nine weeks, the Mansfield-based company said this morning.
Revenues hit £329m for the nine-week period to 25 September.
Gross profit also increased 12 per cent to £131m compared with the comparable 2010 period.
Retail division sales increased 12.1 per cent to £296m, and retail gross profit increased 13.3 per cent to £119m. However, the results do not include sales and gross profit from the newly formed premium lifestyle division.
The Sports Direct board said it "remained confident" of reaching the full year targeted underlying EBITDA of £215m at its year-end.
Dave Forsey, chief executive, said the healthy trading results highlighted "the positive sales growth achieved post the tough FIFA World Cup comparisons".
He added: "We remain positive about the group's outlook and are excited about the opportunities in 2012 with the official Sport Relief T-Shirt available exclusively in stores and online from 19 January 2012 and both UEFA EURO 2012 and the London Olympics in the summer."
