Growth in the pipeline for UKDN merger

Solihull-headquartered UK Drainage Network (UKDN) has merged with Waterflow Holdings, creating a £50m-turnover business.

The pair claim the merger will create the UK's largest independent drainage business.

It will be rebranded UKDN Waterflow and provide services to the household, industrial, commercial, transport and water sectors.

Slough-based Waterflow Holdings works with clients including Thames Water, Anglian Water, Network Rail, London Underground, the Highways Agency and Balfour Beatty.

The merger will involve the enlarged business' turnover rise to £50m and a workforce of about 500 employees across 17 depots.

Greg Beech, chief executive of UKDN, said: "This is a transformative merger for both businesses, creating an independent market leader with unrivalled geographical reach and a long track record of providing high service levels in demanding markets.

"Waterflow is a robust and well-invested business which has built a strong reputation for delivery, particularly in highly regulated areas such as rail and utilities."

UKDN, which was backed by mid-market investor Lyceum Capital in January 2010, has grown its turnover by 15 per cent during the past year.
