Perrys leads East Mids in Fast Track 250
Northampton car dealer Perrys leads the way in the East Midlands on a league table ranking the country's leading mid-market private companies.
Perrys is ranked 30th on the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250, to be fully published on Sunday, and is among 13 East Midlands businesses to feature on the list.
Perrys, which is 60 per cent owned by Denise Millard and 20 per cent by Ken Savage and has 1,373 staff, posted £433.3m-worth of sales in 2010 with £5.3m profit.
Also featured from the East Midlands were Leicester-based retailer Crown Crest Group, owned by Abdul Aziz Tayub (ranked 38th); Northampton car dealer Allen Ford (42nd); Derby car dealer Pentagon (48th) and Northamptonshire poultry producer Hillesden Investments (71st).
They featured next to Motorpoint of Derby (81st); Newark-based Center Parcs (108th); Leicester jewellery retailer Aurum (114th); Northampton's 99p Stores (150th); Derbyshire's TC Harrison Group (185th); Opus Energy in Northampton (186th); Leicester's Cromwell Group (193rd) and Nottingham car and van dealer Sandicliffe (226th).
Midlands' companies featured on the list achieved sales of £7bn in their recent annual accounts and employ 32,300 staff in total - up 1,400 the year before.
The list is compiled by Oxford research business Fast Track and sponsored by HSBC and Grant Thornton.
