Birmingham below Manchester in Euro city poll
Birmingham has been named as one of the top 20 European destinations to do business but was ranked below Manchester and London.
For the second consecutive year, the city was placed at number 18.
It is one of three in the UK to be named in the European Cities Monitor, which was devised by Cushman & Wakefield. London was ranked in first place while Manchester took the 16th spot.
Neil Rami, chief executive of marketing Birmingham, said: "With the current economic challenges facing Europe, it is good news that Birmingham has retained its top 20 ranking and emerged as a solid bet for businesses to locate."
Another report published by Cushman & Wakefield last week put Birmingham at 16th in the world's top 25 university cities in terms of the range and quality of institutions.
Rami added: "Together these results demonstrate Birmingham's growing reputation as a leading European business city and its ability to deliver the environment needed to attract and retain major investment.
"Jaguar Land Rover's recent announcement of a new £355m engine production plant in the West Midlands is an example of the confidence the private sector has in the city’s ability to deliver despite economically challenging times."
