£2m Matlock homes completed
A Midlands property developer has converted a Derbyshire office block to four residential homes after securing £2m of funding from Barclays Business.
Gurdial Rai purchased the site on Dale Road, Matlock, in February this year and obtained funding to restore it to its original residential purpose.
He is now planning to add to the Derby site by building a further three terraced houses and two semi detached houses to the left of the site, which has lain vacant since 2002.
Rai said: "My family and I have been coming to the Derbyshire Dales for over thirty years for walking and cycling holidays.
"When I saw the property for sale, I knew it would benefit from being restored to its original condition. Its location on the outskirts of the town makes if very appealing and I hope to make the new housing affordable to the local community."
Supported by Birmingham-based architect Integrated Designs, Rai has completed six development projects including the Derby site.
