Something for the weekend
Foot off
Holding up property professionals from getting into Metro has often caused some to call for a return to capital punishment, so imagine the panic outside the (in)famous Birmingham watering hole recently. Trigram's genial owner Bill Houle blocked the entrance by sticking a great big green footprint on the pavement. This was, of course, to push Langley Point's new 'welcome to a greener place to work' campaign. But I bet those thirsty agents didn't thank him much for that.
Step back in time
Consultants at Birmingham branches of recruitment company Pertemps took a step back in time last Friday when they dressed up in '70s clothing as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
The consultants, who are based in offices on Temple Street and Bennetts Hill, donned their fancy dress as part of a company wide competition to win a cash prize for their branch.
Tim Hibbert, branch manager of the industrial division on Temple Street, said: "Friday was great fun and everybody really got into the spirit of the competition. We had been sent an image of some of the staff taken about ten years after Pertemps launched and were set the task of creating our own iconic photo in the same style, we’re hoping we are in with a good chance of winning."
Fancy pieces
It's odd what you hear at reception desks when you're waiting to see a contact. This week we had the pleasure of hearing about how Gok Wan could transform a certain member of staff; how someone else had ruined their husband's dinner by putting too much red wine in it (don't see the problem there, to be honest); and finally – how much one particular lady fancied George Osborne. Now, that's just weird.
