Interfleet sold to SNC-Lavalin
Interfleet, the Derby-based rail technology consultancy group, has been bought by Canadian engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin. Interfleet described the deal as "the best way to assure the growth and development of the company".
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Interfleet specialises in rolling stock, railway systems, and strategic railway management. Founded in 1996 during UK rail privatisation, the company has grown during the last 15 years from a single UK office of 90 employees to almost 600 staff in 22 locations across the UK, Scandinavia, central Europe, Australasia, India and North America.
"Interfleet’s specialised expertise, complementary geographic presence and reputation for innovation are a strong addition to SNC-Lavalin’s service offering, particularly given the great growth potential in the rail sector worldwide,” said Jim Burke, executive vice president, SNC-Lavalin Group.
"This acquisition, combined with our existing expertise in major rail projects, supports our long-term strategic plan for growth in this sector. We are pleased to welcome Interfleet to the team."
David Rollin, managing director, Interfleet Technology, added: "Interfleet and SNC-Lavalin have a complementary geographical reach and our company cultures and respective strategic plans are aligned. Together we will be able to provide an even wider range of resources, capabilities and services to our clients in future."
SNC-Lavalin has offices across Canada and in more than 35 other countries around the world. Having been established in 1911, the company is celebrating its centenary this year.
