£8m investment for Leicester Ramada
A total of £8m has been invested into Leicester city centre's new Ramada Encore Hotel.
Cash for the 115-bedroom project has come from local businessmen, building owner Indi Johal and the operator, £60m-turnover company Akkeron Hotels Group.
Work on the site is being completed this month ahead of its opening on 1 November.
The venue, which will be managed by Akkeron Hotels Group, is to create 35 new full and part time jobs in the city and will become the 36th hotel in the company's UK portfolio.
Located on Charles Street, the seven-storey building was formerly the Leicester headquarters of Norwich Union.
"The hotel is at the heart of the city centre’s regenerated cultural quarter, ideal for business travellers as well as leisure visitors to the area’s tourist attractions and sporting venues," said general manager Henrik Jespersen.
"In fact we are already seeing a great deal of interest from local businesses wishing to book high quality accommodation for guests and staff events during the run up to Christmas."
