Lending figures to new business customers have risen by 9 per cent at Lloyds Corporate Markets in Nottingham.

During the first eight months of 2011, the bank sealed 19 new deals in the region and began working with eight new corporate customers.

The Nottingham office said it had now forged more than 40 new corporate relationships over the last three years.

Dene Jones, area director for Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets in the East Midlands, said: "Businesses in the East Midlands have been facing tough trading conditions since the recession, so we’re pleased to be able to report solid growth this year. It reflects our continued commitment to inward investment in the region and bodes well for future economic growth.

"Favourable exchange rates have also been key in supporting overseas investment and exports, something which is essential if we are to achieve a sustainable UK recovery."

Jones added that manufacturing and food sectors had remained particularly strong performers across the region.
