Lighting company CP Northern has completed the final phase of a £220,000 installation contract at the London 2012 Olympics' handball arena.

The Staffordshire-based company constructed a lighting control system for the new London stadium. It will host handball and modern pentathlon events, as well as goalball in the subsequent Paralympics.

CP Northern's system includes HDTV lighting, 18 scene combinations of 250 high-pressure discharge lights and the control of 52 Sunpipe aperture motors.

James Hart, project director of CP Northern, said: "Due to the high specification and diverse control requirements, we were one of the only companies in the UK that had the experience to deliver such a system catering for the bespoke Olympic requirements and thereafter when the arena will be adapted as a multi-use sports venue for community use."

The contract was worth £220,000 and took eight months to complete.
