Trent Bridge secures Ashes tests

Nottingham's local economy is set to get a boost after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced Trent Bridge would host Ashes Test matches in 2013 and 2015.

An England v India Test in 2014 and one day internationals against New Zealand (2013 and 2015), Sri Lanka (2016) and Pakistan (2016) will also be hosted at the Nottingham venue.

The decision follows a bidding process through which UK sites were asked to pitch for packages of matches in the coming years.

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club's chief executive Derek Brewer said: "To secure Ashes Tests matches in both the 2013 and 2015 series is a tremendous endorsement of our track record of delivery and the pledges that we made in our bid."

Nottinghamshire’s proposal was backed by three local authorities, local MPs, Nottinghamshire Constabulary and private sector businesses.

"I am really grateful to all those who have played their part in this process and pleased that they have been rewarded with cricket matches that can do so much for our venue, our community and the regional economy. It has been a real team effort," said Brewer.
