An asbestos management business is targeting the East Midlands after completing the acquisition of an industry rival.

Lucion Environmental has snapped up North Tyneside-headquartered AOH for an undisclosed six-figure sum. The deal was internally funded by Lucion.

Lucion already has offices in Crawley, Wolverhampton, Chester and Northern Ireland in addition to its Gateshead headquarters, and the AOH acquisition adds four sites across England in Willington Quay, Chester, Rotherham and Leicester.

Lucion managing director Dr Patrick Morton said: "Entering into the East Midlands market provides an invaluable bridge between our existing offices – we know that there are real commercial opportunities to go for in this area and now have the presence on the ground that we felt would help us target them even more effectively.

"Bringing AOH's training resource into our group also add significant weight to the services we can offer, and we’re very confident that this deal will lead to a real step change in our operations through the acquisition of new customers and expansion of the work we do with existing clients."

All 30 AOH staff have transferred across to Lucion, bringing the total number employed by the business to 85.

Lucion was advised on the acquisition by Jonathan Grant at Grants Accountants in Leeds and Julian Gill at Dickinson Dees Law Firm in Newcastle.
