Opella bought by US business
Hereford plumbing products manufacturer Opella has been bought in a multimillion-pound deal by California-based Fluidmaster.
The company, which supplies DIY retailers and building and plumbing merchants, was advised by Orbis Partners, the UK partner of Clairfield International.
Opella's management team will stay in post, including principal shareholder Graeme Fowler, who is working with Fluidmaster to identify market opportunities.
Shah Zaki, a partner at Orbis, said: "The deal represents an excellent result for the shareholders and provides an exciting platform for the further development of the company.
"Working with our network partners in Clairfield International, we approached and received offers from a number of strategic international potential buyers.
"As a part of the Fluidmaster group, Opella is well placed to exploit the significant opportunities within the market that management have identified."
The Birmingham office of law firm Gateley advised the shareholders of Opella, with corporate partner Simon Gill assisted by solicitor Tom Rush.
