Gateley advises on asbestos deal
The Birmingham office of Gateley has advised Silverdell on its acquisition of RDS Asbestos Management Consultants.
The deal was valued at £2m plus working capital, including share placements. It is Silverdell's second acquisition of the year following its swoop for Hull-based AH Allen
Katie Silvester, corporate partner in Gateley's Birmingham office, led the deal for the firm.
She said: "The industry is underpinned by strong regulatory drivers as companies face ever-more stringent legal requirements to manage hazardous substances such as asbestos.
"Silverdell is broadening its services in all areas of specialist environmental support services and we were delighted to be able to work with them again as it strengthens its offering in this important sector."
Ian Johnson, finance firector at Silverdell, said: "Our most recent acquisition is in line with our long-term strategy to expand our service offering by focusing on longer term framework contracts directly for major blue-chip companies.
"RDS, which operates predominantly in the retail sector, brings complementary skills and geographic coverage to enhance our competitive advantage."
