Whitchurch Sainsbury's gets nod
Terrace Hill has received a minded to grant recommendation for a new 30,000 sq ft supermarket in Whitchurch, Shropshire.
According to the company, its application received unanimous support at a planning meeting on 13 September and has now been forwarded to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
If approved, work will start in summer 2012, with opening set for 2013.
Duncan McEwan, head of retail at Terrace Hill, said: "This planning recommendation at Whitchurch is another demonstration of our expertise in working with local governments and communities to progress sites through the planning process, and it is particularly pleasing that we received unanimous support for this scheme.
"The news follows closely on the heels of two other foodstore planning recommendations and we now have real momentum in this sector, which we believe will continue to show strong growth over the medium term."
This is the third Terrace Hill supermarket development to receive minded to grant recommendations so far this month (September 2011), following sites in East Cleveland and Sunderland.
