Tarmac wins £40m maintenance deal
Wolverhampton-based Tarmac has secured a highways maintenance contract worth about £40m.
Through the eight-year contract with Road Management Services, Tarmac will provide all aspects of highway maintenance and management.
This will include network management, routine and cyclical maintenance, as well as the design and construction of renewal schemes, covering about 52km of the A1 from Darrington to Dishforth in Yorkshire.
Andy Rowley, director of Tarmac's national contracting, said: "This achievement underlines our proven experience and strong previous track record of delivering services on Britain’s motorway network. Our partnership with AECOM will focus on the operation and maintenance of the motorway, seeing us designing improvement schemes and carrying out inspections of the highway.
"The deal demonstrates the trust our customers have in Tarmac's ability to consistently provide cost-effective, first-class road and maintenance services."
The contract will terminate in 2019.
