Derby-based entrepreneur Sukhi Ghuman has been appointed to the board of directors of the Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA).

Ghuman is the owner and founder of Pride Park-headquartered Octavian Security in the UK and Octavian Security USA.

He was elected to the board after receiving a majority vote following a panel interview.

The HSFA is a not-for-profit organisation which runs several public safety, energy, health and human services schemes across the USA.

Ghuman said: "We’ve been operating in the USA from our base in Tulsa for a relatively short period of time. I therefore see it as a major achievement and privilege that I’ve been invited to join such a respected public body as the HSFA.

"I’m very much looking forward to taking my seat on the board and working with my fellow directors to continue establishing successful public partnerships and schemes to help protect communities and make them safer places to live."

Eric V Brown, president and chairman at the HSFA, added that Ghuman would bring an "extensive network of contacts" to the board.

Octavian USA was established in 2010 by Ghuman and business partner Sam Sangha.
