Shakespeares targets Indian market
Shakespeares is launching a new India team in the Midlands. The law firm said the move would assist UK and Indian companies seeking to invest in the other's economy.
To head up the team, Shakespeares has appointed lawyer Viplavi Mahendra.
Having worked in India, Mahendra gained experience working in the corporate team at AZB Partners in Mumbai. In her new role at Shakespeares, she will be working closely with the local Indian business community and advising businesses seeking to invest in India.
With an annual economic growth rate of 8 per cent, India remains one of the most attractive investment destinations globally.
Mahendra said: "Since the start of the economic downturn, we have seen a step change in the number of local companies that are interested in securing a slice of the Indian marketplace, particularly in sectors like infrastructure, IT, manufacturing and biosciences.
"Change is afoot in India and Midlands-based companies planning to get involved in a joint venture or other investment activity need up-to-date advice about the current regulatory landscape."
Shakespeares has offices in Birmingham, Nottingham, Stratford upon Avon, Moreton-in-the-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour.
