Businesses urged to attend Irish networking trip

Businesses in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are being offered the opportunity to create trading links with companies in Ireland.

A trade mission organised by the region's chamber of commerce and Enterprise Europe Network is set to take place between 14-16 November. Companies will get the opportunity to visit Cork and Dublin on the trip.

The chamber said that Ireland was an attractive exporting option for businesses in the region due to the large number of worldwide corporations which have bases there and the country's low corporation tax rate of 12.5 per cent.

George Cowcher, chief executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "This trade mission will give local companies the chance to explore some of the trading opportunities available in Ireland, as well as making new business connections and accessing new markets and customers.

"Whilst UK firms need to export more to the world’s major economies like China, India and the United States, it’s crucial that local firms do not overlook the opportunities on offer in Ireland, which remains a key strategic export market for the UK."
