RBS funds care home refurbishment

RBS's healthcare team has backed the development of a care home in Tunstall with a £430,000 loan.

The bank said the cash injection would help the new owners at Goldendale Care Home to restructure existing debt and fund the refurbishment of the site.

Goldendale's management team said an extension to its premises would allow it to take on more patients at the privately-run residential home.

The organisation provides care for the elderly and people with dementia-type illnesses.

Goldendale is owned and managed by Rita Scarlett, together with directors Carl Scarlett and Lee Stringfellow.

Shropshire building contractor Shingler Construction has been appointed to manage the refurbishment programme alongside Keele-based quantity surveyor GMG Associates.

Rita Scarlett said: "The home was purpose built in 1995 and this is the first major refurbishment since this time. We have used innovative designs that we feel maximises the space and potential available to us.

"The comfort and care of our residents is the most important aspect to us and we are confident that both our existing and new residents will be very happy with the new and improved finished home."
